About the Presentation: The headlines don’t foretell the future of the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device industries – they reflect the risks facing these companies today.  These risks can seem daunting and their effects devastating without understanding what insurance coverages and risk mitigation practices a company should have to protect themselves.  This presentation will focus on what insurance products are available to the life sciences industry and lessons from the losses experienced by other companies in this space.

About the Speakers:   Ms Nims has more than 8 years of experience working with the Chubb Corporation as a life sciences underwriting specialist.  In this role, she analyzes the unique risks and addresses insurance coverage needs of biotech, medical device, and pharmaceutical industries, from early stage research and development through clinical trials and commercialization.  She is responsible for understanding and tracking litigation trends affecting the life sciences community including clinical trials and products liability.  She has collaborated with research institutions, academic centers of excellence, consumer groups, and regulators on insurance-related issues for the medical product industry.  Ms Nims earned her degree in Biology and Neuroscience from Williams College in 2000.

Mr. Bennett is the regional manager for Chubb Specialty Insurance, Chubb’s arm for Management Liability and Directors & Officers coverage.  He has more than 10 years of experience working with all types of businesses.  He was named "Instructor of the Year" by the Independent Insurance Agents of Houston in 2005 and 2006 for his in-depth expertise of these specialty coverages.
